1. THE MEDIA-The media and Kobe Bryant have finally repaired their well documented rocky relationship. Kobe is no longer seen as the villain. All that will come to a screeching halt in the Apple. Have you seen what they do to superstars there? Does A-Rod, Starbury, or pre-Super Bowl Eli Manning ring a bell?
2. THE FRONT OFFICE-Let’s be serious. Kobe is the same guy that criticized the Lakers front office for making “bad decisions”, such as drafting Andrew Bynum. Bynum when healthy has been playing at near All-Star levels. If Kobe didn’t like that, imagine what he will say the first time Eddy “how you doing” Curry blows a layup.
3. THE DOUBLE NICKEL FACTOR-There’s something legendary about star opposing players going into The Garden only once or twice a year. It’s the night that brings all the Jay-Z’s and Chris Rock’s courtside. The night to see if you can hang 55 on the Knickerbockers like Mike once did,or 61 like Kobe did earlier this season. Playing there every single night would take away that mystique.
4. FORGIVE? MAYBE, FORGET? NEVER.-Don’t let that fake lovefest between Shaq and Kobe at this years All-Star game fool you. Kobe is an assassin and he never forgets those who did him wrong in the past. Need we remind you that a young #8 wearing Bryant was chin checked by bench warming guard Chris Childs. Easily has to be top 5 most embarrassing moments of his career. Why then would he go and suit up for the same team that once was home to such a savage?
5. IT'S THE KNICKS!!!-No disrespect to any New Yorkers but let’s be real: they haven’t been to the playoffs since 2000. I was 12 . Kobe was 21. Rick Ross was still..never mind. But it’s safe to say that the Knicks are the East Coast Clippers. Love him or hate him, one thing Kobe Bryant has never been is a loser. No way will he or any other self respecting free agent ever consider going to that franchise.
